Medication Management

Oasis Counseling International provides medication management services through appropriately trained and licensed professionals.  Our psychiatric nurse practitioners are licensed to prescribe, dispense, control and administer medications.  Psychiatric medications can be an important part of treatment as they can reduce targeted symptoms and improve one’s quality of life.  Our providers seek to match the most effective medication therapy with an individual’s diagnosis and their personal response to a medication.  Patients are monitored on an on-going basis for reactions, side-effects, medication interactions, reduction in targeted behaviors and any other outcome that may be the result of medication use or a change in medication.  The patient is seen more frequently at first to assess their reaction to the medication therapy and then less often during the maintenance phase of treatment.  Oasis offers face-to-face treatment for patients at our Norfolk facility and telehealth services are also available.

We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.  MAT combines FDA-approved medications with various behavioral therapies for addiction treatment.  For those with an opioid use disorder, MAT helps to normalize brain chemistry, block the rewarding/euphoric effects of certain substances, and reduce physical cravings.  MAT is a vital treatment option for individuals striving for and sustaining sobriety.  We’re now welcoming new patients.  If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the MAT program or our other services, please contact Oasis today.  Together, we can support your journey to recovery!
