Northeast Upward Bound
Northeast Upward Bound has served fifty students annually from Norfolk, Madison, and the Lyons/Decatur area since 1999. The program was developed in 1956 as part of the Economic Opportunity Act. Upward Bound’s mission, as defined by the United States Department of Education is “to increase the rate at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of post secondary education”.
Services provided include: Instruction in school subjects, Academic Tutoring, Mentoring Programs, SAT and ACT Preparation, Financial Aid Advising, Workshops and College Campus Tours, College Selection and Application, Preparation for College Entrance Exams, Exposure to Cultural Events and Academic Programs, and Career Exploration.
Northeast Upward Bound is funded by the government entirely. There is no cost to the student.
