Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department

The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department focuses on the health of the populations of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston, and Wayne counties.  They promote healthy behaviors and lifestyles all the time, and monitor and diagnose health concerns of entire communities.  This can include medicine, dentistry, nursing, social work, optometry, pharmacy, environmental sciences, behavioral sciences, nutrition, health education, and other works in public health.

The agency is responsible for preventing epidemics and the spread of disease, protecting against environmental hazards, preventing injury, and promoting and encouraging healthy behaviors and mental health. The department also responds to disasters and assists the communities in recovery. They also assure the quality and accessibility of health services.  They are able to track public health data and monitor health threats to the public.

The department is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
