Goldenrod Hills Community Action
Goldenrod Hills Community Action (GHCA), Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation, incorporated under the laws of the State of Nebraska, and headquartered in Wisner, NE. Goldenrod Hills Community Action serves an income-eligible population in a 14 county area of Northeast Nebraska, including the counties of Antelope, Burt, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Stanton, Thurston, Washington, and Wayne.
GHCA provides a wide variety of programs and services to aid the community.
The Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) provides nutrition education and special foods to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who have recently had a baby and/or have infants and children including foster children. WIC offices are located in Wisner, Norfolk, and South Sioux City.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) provides nutrition education and foods to infants, children, the elderly, and pregnant or postpartum women.
Early Development Network Services Coordination helps families with infants or children up to age three who have a disability and who qualify for special education in the Norfolk Public School System.
Operation Great Start is a prenatal and postpartum program that consists of GHCA, Faith Regional Health Services, Franciscan Care Services, Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department, Wayne State College, and Northeast Early Childhood Training Partnership. The purpose of this program is to give every baby a healthy start in life.
The Immunization Program provides vaccines to adults and children age 18 and under.
Head Start is a preschool program providing children and their families with educational, social, nutritional, and medical services.
Family Services provided by GHCS include food pantries, rent, tax filing assistance, utilities, budgeting, tax counseling, case management, child safety seat program, and homeless prevention assistance.
The Weatherization Program helps assist in the costs of heating and cooling to low income families of Nebraska.
